"Marc Micu: the Sounds in October" is an invitation to Marc's personal life through music, as well as what it means to procure the qualities of the opal, October's birthstone. This concert will feature contemporary jazz, Japanese funk-fusion, game show jazz, original compositions, and more.

Originally from Surrey BC, Marc is a Filipino multi-instrumentalist, educator, composer, arranger, researcher, and advocate for all things music. He has etched his name into BC’s musical realm by dedicating his life to performing a variety of genres in several ensemble formats such as jazz, funk, fusion, art-music, contemporary, ska, reggaeton, indie, orchestra, and pop. Marc has had 8 years of ensemble leadership, dating back from running jazz combos in highschool. Now, Marc is the director and bandleader of his lively funk-fusion band “Marc Micu & Friends” and dynamically eclectic brass quintet “Kasperl Quintet”, both having played sold out shows across BC.

Joining him will be Grady Hewlett on keys, Brayden Wright on bass, and Lachlan Barry on kit. Marc will also have special guests including Koshi Thompson on trumpet, Rhys Batstone on alto saxophone, and many more.
