With over a decade of high-octane jazz-funk under its belt, Vancouver Island Dynamite has been around longer than you might know. Catching them live is a bit of a lucky break these days, with the band’s members busy playing in just about every other group in town. But when they do get together, Victoria’s own jazz-funk royalty lights it up. From explosive sets at the Victoria Jazz Festival to sell-outs at Hermann’s, they’ve built a reputation for shows that groove hard and burn hot. You can expect reworked 70s, 80s, and 90s jazz-funk classics and hidden gems, music by Herbie Hancock, David Sanborn, Grover Washington Jr., The Crusaders, and plenty more. It’s been a while, but they’re back, dangerously combustible, funkin’ jazz.
