Original CanUS Jazz Band BACK TOGETHER AGAIN.

This is an event you won't want to miss: our original CanUS Jazz Band trumpet, trombone player, and singer, Jim Armstrong, bringing his spirit of traditional jazz along with the talent that made him a star musician on the U.S. Traditional Jazz Festival Circuit and took the CanUS Jazz Band with him. Lucky us that he left Ireland to come to Canada! CanUS began as a quartet in 1991 & specializing in Boswell Sisters material, which meant being musicians who could also sing. They’ve kept that tradition and joining him are band regulars: the world -known trumpet player Simon Stribling, local stars on Victoria’s music scene Doug Rhodes and Al Pease on clarinet, tenor and alto saxes, Joey Smith the former Glenn Miller bassist who was brought to us- our thanks Diana, drummer Lauri Lyster also known as Vancouver Opera’s drummer, well-known, loved banjo player: Avram McCagherty and the leader, pianist Toni Blodgett tickling the ivories.

The lineup includes Victoria’s finest traditional Jazz musicians:

Simon Stribling - trumpet
Doug Rhodes - vocals &alto sax
Al Pease -Duke of Sooke, alias the Al Capone of the saxophone
Avram McCagherty - banjo
Lauri Lyster - drums
Joey Smith - bass
Toni Blodgett - tickling the ivories
