Bill Sample & Darlene Cooper | the Wild Blue Herons with Horns
Wild Blue Herons with Horns are fronted by the husband-and-wife musical team of Bill Sample (BC Entertainment Hall of Fame) and Darlene Cooper. Victoria music fans may remember Bill’s local band Sample Stearns Band.
For the Hermann’s performance on September 13, WBH will be adding horns to their lineup, namely Wayne Kozak on tenor sax and Dennis Esson on trombone. They will be playing tunes by the Jazz Crusaders, Quincy Jones, plus more funky versions of their originals. Rounding out the band will be Louis Rudner on bass, Randall Stoll on drums, and Jane Mortifee on background vocals. Collectively, this team of musicians has played with Jann Arden, Colin James, kd Lang, and more.
Formed in 2017, Wild Blue Herons will be playing a bit of jazz, a bit of funk, some moving ballads and lots of groove. They have released two albums, On The Outside, and You and I, and a third album will be completed by this summer.
