Montreal jazz pianist/composer Lorraine Desmarais has received the Yamaha Prize at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, a Félix at the Adisq for her album Trio Lorraine Desmarais, and first prize at the Great Jazz Piano American Competition at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. She also received the SOCAN Composers' Award for her album Vision in 2001, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal’s Oscar Peterson Award (2002), and the Order of Canada (2012). Demarais last appeared at TD JazzFest in 1996, with her first appearance at the Victoria festival in 1988. Bill Evans profoundly revolutionized jazz piano and the trio formation, and now, the musicians of the Lorraine Desmarais Trio are thrilled to recreate their favourite Bill Evans pieces on stage. Creativity, virtuosity, musicality and sophistication come together in this intimate conversation between Camil Bélisle on drums, Alec Walkington on double bass and Lorraine Desmarais on piano.
