One of the events of the year at the legendary Hermann’s Jazz Club is coming! World class Cuban pianist presents an evening of melodies from Brasil plus Brazilian influenced music. Featuring the amazing vocalists Sara Marreiros and Anne Schaefer, who will be experimenting and collaborating as a duo as well. The connection created in the collaboration between Sara, Anne and the band is very special, this event is a unique opportunity to see these all stars line up interacting together. We will also have the immense pleasure to count with a very special guest from Brazil, Pedro Siqueira will join us once again showing his multiple talents on vocals, guitar, percussion and dance.

The concept of this event is something rarely seen around here, where musicians make the audience feel that the performance is more like a meaningful moment of spiritual connection between friends than a show. Sara and Anne sing mostly as a duo functioning as one entity and switch rolls according to what the music demands. We also perform some of their original music adapting it to the innovative set up they’re creating.

More about Sara, Anne and Pedro
Sara Marreiros is the embodiment of a musical nomad. She grew up travelling through Europe and North America and these experiences greatly influenced her musical evolution. Sara has been a solo performer as well as collaborated with musicians from all over the world, performing diverse genres including Jazz, Fado, hip-hop, world beat, electronica and folk. She has also been deeply committed to vocal improvisation and sound healing. Since 2000 Fado music has played a star role in her performances and has offered her the opportunity to embrace her Portuguese heritage. She recently played the role of Amalia Rodrigues in Puente Theatre’s production of “Fado, The Saddest Music in the World “written by Elaine Avila. Currently Sara performs in a variety of ensembles in Victoria and Vancouver B.C.

Anne Schaefer
Award-winning vocalist and singer- songwriter, Anne Schaefer, combines intelligent lyrics with a genre-blurring musicality that combines elements of jazz, folk, and world music. Born into a family of musicians in small town Saskatchewan, Schaefer has taken her musical perspective through Canada, France, Argentina, Bosnia and Ireland. Known for her original compositions and her interpretations of standard jazz, she has co-produced two studio albums with acclaimed engineer and producer, Joby Baker, two self engineer and self produced albums, and countless single releases that honour her genre blurring gift. Honest and authentic, Schaefer is a treasure and mesmerizes audiences with her unique brand of everything.

Pedro Siqueira is a Brazilian treasure, he has been sharing his art as a singer, guitarist, percussionist, actor, photographer and videographer in this area of Canada for many years, in this occasion he will be introducing the pandeiro to the ones that haven’t seen it live around here, a traditional percussion instrument from Brazil, and he will also be singing, playing guitar, and showing some traditional Brazilian dance as well.
