Tobacco and Rose
Sat. September 17th 2022 7:00 - 9:30 doors at 5:30 (All Ages) Tobacco & Rose features the song writing and compositions of Richard Moody. These are works inspired by (and in reverence to) the natural world, Gaia and her medicines, and the heart of humanity. The music itself is informed by Richard's love of the greats like Dylan, Joni, Nick Drake etc, but also influenced but long years of immersion in counterpoint, jazz, Bach, and more.
A veteran of the Canadian music scene, Richard has delved into almost every style a string player can. After an education in classical viola at the University of Manitoba and the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique in Caen, France, he co-founded the folk-rock group Acoustically Inclined, garnering national acclaim.
He has since performed and/or recorded with the Wailin Jennys, the Bills, Joel Fafard, Jane Siberry, Cari Burdett, Glenn Buhr, Paris to Kyiv, the Wyrd Sisters and the Manitoba Chamber orchestra, among many others. He is featured on hundreds of records as a go-to string guy, writing, recording and performing solo and section parts from his home studio in Victoria BC.
Richard will be performing with Tyler Lieb on Pedal steel and other special guests.
