A full-length musical drama where jazz and theatre merge in a tribute to one of
the greatest jazz legends, Billie Holiday.
The time is 1959. The place is Emerson’s bar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The
audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday’s last performances. More than
a dozen songs are interlaced with salty, often humorous stories and reflections to
project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music.

BIOGRAPHIES:
Rosemary is thrilled to participate in this unique collaboration that merges theatre
and jazz and to be so warmly welcomed to the Hermann’s stage with an amazing
group of dynamic artists. Rosemary is an Associate of Attitude Theatre whose
mission is to produce theatre that engages audiences through the perspective of
diverse narratives and to inform and celebrate the human journey. A Victoria
based theatre artist and vocalist, her passion for storytelling and music has
offered opportunities on a variety of stages and genres from Shakespeare to
Broadway. She is a graduate of the University of Calgary, BA musicianship and
vocal studies, Mount Royal College, Calgary AB (Performing Arts), with
explorations in performance and care clowning, Most recently she was a
participant in the Arts Leadership training program and completed an internship
at the Belfry Theatre and Canadian College of Performing Arts.

Attila is an accomplished pianist, composer, arranger, producer, and jazz/world
music artist, who has performed all over the globe. His special blend of sounds
from across the globe reflects his rich and varied musical background with
influences from Canada, Hungary, Brazil, Cuba, and India. With over 100
internationally distributed albums to his credit, Attila has several gold and
platinum records. He has also recorded three albums of original music released to
great acclaim, receiving airplay across the country and internationally. He is
working on his latest album to be recorded later this year.

Joey Smith, bassist, guitarist, and arranger has worked with many unique and
well-known talents. A faculty member in the School of Contemporary Music at the
Victoria Conservatory of Music since 2004, he brings a wealth of varied experience
to his students for whom he teaches bass along with jazz arranging, composition,
and direction of student combo groups. Joey has written numerous arrangements
for such groups as the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Victoria Symphony, also
arranging some of the music for the Commonwealth Games in 1994. Currently,
several of his arrangements appear on The Bill’s and The Marc Atkinson Trio’s CDs.
