Phil Dwyer “Connections Quartet”
Sat. March 19th 2022 7:00 - 9:00 doors at 5:30 (All Ages) The “Connections Quartet” brings together some of the West Coast’s premier musicians, and some of Phil Dwyer’s longest-standing musical colleagues. Phil has been playing with Brad, Ken, and Alan since the mid-80s and is thrilled to be bringing them together for the first time ever for this special Hermann’s show.
Phil and Brad first played together in 1983 in the BC high school honours stage band, directed by Phil Nimmons. Since then they have collaborated on many occasions, including performing with groups led by Ian McDougall and Don Thompson.
Phil and Ken came up together on the Vancouver music scene in the mid-80s. Since Phil’s return to the island after many years in Toronto, they have performed regularly in settings from intimate piano/bass duos, to the full-throated roar of Hugh Fraser’s VEJI.
Phil and Alan met in New York in 1985 and attended the Banff Centre of Fine Arts together. Following that they spent three years on the road with bassist David Friesen, recorded several albums together, and collaborated on many different musical performing and educational undertakings.
