Classics from the Golden Age of Jazz. The music of such greats as Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet performed by two legendary clarinetists/sax players: Lloyd Arntzen and Al Pease. These musical giants have been swinging, reinventing and reinvigorating classic jazz on the West Coast for the past 70 years.
They are joined by singer Holly Arntzen, who grew up in the wilds of Lynn Valley listening to her dad’s jazz bands jamming into the night. Carved into her heart were songs by Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter and Kay Starr that she interprets with love, energy and fire.
In the band are Victoria’s finest players: pianist Tom Vickery, bassist Don Cox, and banjo plucker Avram McCagherty. Don’t miss this wonderful gathering to celebrate being together again to enjoy live jazz in all its glory!
