Thu. March 19th 2020 7:30pm - 10:00pm doors at 5:30pm (All Ages) Cancelled -
$42 advance/VJS members/students | $45 at the door (service charges apply at the Royal & McPherson Box Office) The Victoria Jazz Society regretfully announces that the Molly Johnson’s sold out performance at Hermann’s Jazz Club on Thursday, March 19 has been cancelled. The VJS was informed on March 11 by Molly Johnson’s management of the cancellation.
The cancellation is due to the fact that Molly Johnson’s performance in Victoria is associated with her tour of the US, including dates in Seattle on March 17 and 18, which has since been cancelled due to the Covid-19 concerns and outbreak in Washington State.
Both Molly Johnson’s management and the Victoria Jazz Society hope to reschedule this show in Victoria for mid-February, 2021.
Tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase beginning 10am, Friday, March 13, 2020.
Refunds will be offered when the tickets for the March 19 show are presented in person, where the tickets were purchased (either the Royal McPherson Box Office or VJS office). Please note that tickets cannot be returned to a different outlet from where it was purchased.
________
Molly Johnson’s voice evokes the aura of dark smoky nightclubs of a bygone era and speaks to an emotional depth that few vocalists in any genre ever reach. Like the woman behind it, it is a voice filled with humour, joy, surprise, sassiness, and of course, love.
Johnson’s latest Juno-nominated album, Meaning To Tell Ya, released in Spring 2018 and mixes groovy funk, soul and jazz. A Juno winner in 2009 for “Vocal Jazz Album” (Lucky) and CBC Radio 2 host for five years, Johnson is also an Officer to the Order of Canada due to her philanthropic work for a variety of causes and for her international contributions to the arts. She has performed to sold-out halls throughout Canada and the world, including performances for the Prince and late Princess of Wales, as well as Nelson Mandela and legendary producer/multi-instrumentalist Quincy Jones.
Witness this Canadian jazz icon live in the intimate setting of Hermann’s Jazz Club for an evening of sensational sounds and musical brilliance. With Robi Botos on piano and Mike Downes on bass.
