David Vest: The Soul of Mardi Gras
Sat. February 29th 2020 7:30pm - 10:30pm doors at 5:30pm (All Ages) $25
Sorry, this event is now sold out
David Vest has played Mardi Gras celebrations from Florida to Galveston, because Fat Tuesday is celebrated all up and down the Gulf Coast, far beyond New Orleans. In fact, the first “Carnival” was celebrated in Mobile, in what is now Alabama, and Canadians deserve a lot of the credit for it. Come groove to classic Mardi Gras beats by David and his band, with a spotlight on Professor Longhair, the Bach of Rock.
David Vest is a five-time Maple Blues Award winner. He is an authentic, Southern-bred boogie-woogie piano pounder and a world-class entertainer, and his live shows are the stuff of legend.
He backed Big Joe Turner in the '60s, toured with Jimmy T99 Nelson, Floyd Dixon and Lavelle White, and was co-leader of the legendary Paul deLay Band, sharing vocal and frontman duties. His songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Tammy Wynette to Downchild.
