“A deft pianist with a graceful touch, [Eric Reed’s] solos are scattered with references…dropping coy puzzles amidst the swinging solos.” – New York City Jazz Record
“[Eric Alexander’s] dark, solid tone sound and phrasing, and the freshness of the solo lines in fast songs or ballads, are their own rewards.” – The New York Times
Placing second behind Joshua Redman in the 1991 Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander is a founding member of the Art Blakey-inspired sextet, One For All, recording over a dozen albums with the all-star band while maintaining his own recording career. He joins forces with prolific pianist/composer Eric Reed, a superlative bandleader, solo performer, producer, educator, and sideman with artists such as Joe Henderson, Betty Carter, Freddie Hubbard, Buster Williams, and Wynton Marsalis – with whom he recorded more than a dozen albums. Reed has become one of the foremost interpreters of Thelonious Monk’s music, devoting four releases to his timeless classics. Alexander is currently working on a new recording project, due mid-2019. His latest, Fly, Playgrounds and Despair, released March 2018.
