Chance Hayden (Portland)

Thu. March 5th 7:30pm - 10:30pm doors at 5:30pm (All Ages)
Portland based guitarist, composer, arranger and producer Chance Hayden debuts at Hermann's Jazz Club on Thursday, March 5th with bassist Ross Garlow and drummer Mark Griffith. Since the release of his latest album, Get Somethin' (Ropeadope), Hayden has performed extensively throughout the pacific northwest in a variety of outfits from solo guitar to all-star collaborations with Andy Coe, Saeeda Wright and Sarah Clarke. As a sideman, Hayden often supports many renowned artists such as Mel Brown, Farnell Newton and Jarrod Lawson with whom he toured fifteen countries: some highlights involving Holland’s North Sea Jazz Festival, Japan’s Billboard Live and an exclusive birthday celebration for Stevie Wonder. Hayden is rapidly garnering international recognition as "a player who definitely knows how to get a lot of color and tone out of his instrument" (Dusty Groove). Having graduated from the PSU Jazz Studies program, his guitar stylings are well informed through the jazz lexicon while equally steeped with blues, funk and soul: the authentic mixture is a result of a lifetime's listening, learning, teaching, practicing and performing.
