The ANTON SCHWARTZ QUINTET was just awarded NORTHWEST ACOUSTIC JAZZ ENSEMBLE OF THE YEAR by Earshot, the Seattle jazz organization, and it’s no wonder why. Their music is delightfully complex and soulfully infectious… for jazz experts and neophytes alike. They’ll be playing music from their CD Flash Mob, which enjoyed a long run in the Top 10 of the Jazz Radio chart and was named one of the best CDs of 2014 by DownBeat magazine. The Buffalo News called the CD "Impressive and virtually impossible to resist,” and L.A. Jazz Scene wrote, “A superior tenor-saxophonist from Northern California, Anton Schwartz has his own sound and a fresh conception of forward-looking hard bop… Schwartz has created a CD worthy of the best of 1960s Blue Note.”

Saxophonist and composer Anton Schwartz has won acclaim for what the San Francisco Chronicle called his “warm, generous tone, impeccably developed solos and infectious performance energy.” He has headlined such venues as The Blue Note (NYC), Jazz Alley (Seattle), Yoshi’s (Oakland), Blues Alley (D.C.), Regattabar (Boston), Dizzy’s (NYC), Catalina’s (L.A.) plus countless jazz festivals. He is a longtime faculty member of the California Jazz Conservatory and has taught extensively at the Stanford Jazz Workshop and the Brubeck Institute. His recent engagements include sold-out shows at Jazz at Lincoln Center and a feature as soloist with the Boston Pops in Boston Symphony Hall. Now based in Seattle, he tours with his superb band, hailing from up & down the West Coast:

Anton Schwartz (tenor sax, Seattle)
Joel Behrman (trumpet, San Jose)
Josh Nelson (piano, Los Angeles)
Michael Glynn (bass, Seattle)
Lorca Hart (drums, San Francisco)
