Sat. September 27th 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM doors at 5:30 PM (All Ages) $30 plus fees/tax, walk-ins welcome
Presented by: Arts On View Society
This concert brings together an all-star lineup featuring two phenomenal saxophonists, Ryan Oliver and Roy Styffe. Between them, they cover soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones as well as flute and alto flute — a wide palette of sounds that will come to life in Attila's fresh, exciting arrangements. Rounding out the band are two world-class musicians: Attila's long-time friend and collaborator Richard Brisco (flying in from Toronto), a masterful drummer with a deep command of Brazilian grooves, and the extraordinary Scott White on bass, whose artistry includes his fantastic bowed bass playing.
They’ll journey through Brazilian jazz, Attila's own Hungarian folk-jazz, modern jazz, jazz standards, plus other original compositions — including brand new pieces. You’ll also hear music by legends like Chick Corea, Ornette Coleman, Hermeto Pascoal, Jovino Santos Neto, and McCoy Tyner, along with some special surprises you’ll have to experience live...
This one is called Jazz Without Borders because they are not limiting themselves to one theme — the only goal is to share joy, creativity, and great energy through jazz of all kinds.
Attila Fias, a Hungarian-born, Toronto-raised platinum-selling pianist and composer who makes his home in Victoria BC, is renowned for seamlessly blending various genres of music with jazz.
