Featuring special guest trombonist from the legendary legacy bands of Count Basie and Duke Ellington and the small groups of Wynton Marsalis, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and many more.

Music from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Nat King Cole and more comes to life in the hands of five of the West Coast's top jazz musicians including the lyrical saxophonist Roy Styffe, trombonist Brad Shigeta, organist Tony Genge and special guest trumpeter Owen Chow!

Led by drummer extraordinaire and swinging crooner Kelby MacNayr this band is a tour de force of the swinging spirit, sass and soul of jazz!

Join us as we celebrate the incredible energy of the old masters of swing - Ellington, Basie, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald - truly this was the music of wild youth, post-war exuberance and cultural melting pot of swing and jazz in Harlem, New Orleans and Kansas City!

Featuring the swinging and soulful drums and vocals of Kelby MacNayr, the outrageously groovy Hammond B3 organ of Dr. Tony Genge and the masterful and the masterful horns of Owen Chow, Brad Shigeta and Roy Styffe, this group is a tour-de-force of swing!

Drummer and vocalist Kelby MacNayr has performed across North America with many of the greats in jazz and world music Including Grammy award winners John Clayton, Alex Cuba and Gail Deadrick, Canadians Ian McDougall, Dan Thompson, Hugh Fraser and Neil Swainson and has shared the stage with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Terrell Stafford, Tamir Hendlemen and more!

Canadian trombonist Brad Shigeta has performed with some of the leading names in jazz including the Duke Ellington and Count Basie legacy bands, the Dave Holland big band, Wynton Marsalis, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis and more! Relocating from New York City to Canada’s West Coast several years ago, Shigeta has been in demand as a trombonist and vocalist in Vancouver, Seattle, Victoria and abroad.

Canadian saxophonist Roy Styffe is regarded as one of the country's most lyrical and gifted improsivors. Drawing on influences from Charlie Parker to Cannonball Adderley, from Paul Desmond to Dick Oats Roy has created his own sound and a beautiful musical identity.

Young trumpeter Owen Chow has become a favourite in Victoria and Montreal for his beautiful tone and melodic improvisations both through his participation in the Young Artist Series and also has a special guest with diverse groups including visiting artists Kate Wyatt, Adrian Vedady and Traditional Jazz great Lloyd Arntzen.

Organist Tony Genge has been a staple of the Canadian jazz scene teaching at Saint Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia before relocating to the West Coast. Tony has played with a Who’s Who of Canadian and international jazz greats from David “fat head” Newman to Jeff Hamilton, John Scofield and many more.e of Counts, Dukes and Kings - Count Basie, Duke Ellington & Nat King Cole!
