Here's a chance to celebrate Mardi Gras with the music and your friends right here at Hermann’s Jazz Club which is declared the best in all of Canada by musicians who have tried them all! Full bar, great service and food - AND A DANCE FLOOR!

As doors open wide again, CanUS Traditional Jazz Matinee is ready to welcome you with open arms. Join a group of 7 musicians known as Creme de la Creme of the New Orleans jazz tradition in the world of that beloved style. Drummer Lauri Lyster’s history includes bands like New Orleans All Stars who played regularly in her home town of Vancouver and were awarded a Jeff Healey award for best traditional jazz album in Canada.

Local hero-musician, bassist Joey Smith’s resume includes touring with the Glenn Miller Orchestra prior to his move to Canada and was an original in a newly formed CanUS! Avram McCagherty on banjo for us has made his mark locally as a band leader and sought after sideman also on guitar. Al Pease, clarinet and tenor sax is a star locally but also chosen to represent Canada in the Norad Band, Colorado, U.S. Simon Stribling on trombone & alto is known on every continent world-wide beginning in Australia leading a band that eventually brought him to Canada where our drummer, Lauri became is wife. Alfons Fear on trumpet, well loved in our Victoria jazz community and making his mark now in traditional jazz.

Lastly, leader and pianist Toni Blodgett who, in 1991, chose musicians-singers & took CanUS touring the best of jazz festivals here and in the U.S. and including an historic first for a traditional jazz band from Canada to appear at the Kennedy Center In Washington,D.C. which can still be viewed on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-QTESE78Wk.
