Show description:
Join "The In Crowd" in a well-hidden skyscraper somewhere on "Route 66," while David and his band play the music of Ramsey Lewis, Ahmad Jamal, Nat 'King' Cole and other "penthouse piano" legends. The password is "Poinciana," and the skyscraper’s not really hidden, it’s right out in the open, but squares can't see it. Damian Graham on drums, Tom Bowler on guitar, Ryan Tandy on bass.

Bio [new]:
They don’t make them as real as David Vest anymore. The son of an Alabama sharecropper, the Victoria BC resident is still going strong some 50 plus years since he first stepped on stage with the likes of Roy Orbison and Big Joe Turner. Long revered as one of the great boogie-woogie piano players, he plays it all: jazz, gospel, rock and roll, all kinds of roots music, even the odd classical number. Over the past twelve months, he’s done shows at Hermann’s devoted to the music of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mose Allison, Chicago blues, Kansas City jump, old time gospel and New Orleans gumbo, to name just a few.

Vest is a three-time winner of the Maple Blues Award for Piano Player of The Year (2013, 2015, 2016) and a Blues Artist of the Year nominee (BreakOut West). He's also a compelling songwriter, singer and storyteller, and the audience sometimes sings louder than he does on songs like “Crooked Politician.” Devestatin’ Rhythm is his 3rd straight top ten album (Roots Music Report Canada chart).
