Born in Germany, raised in Italy, and educated in the United States, veteran jazz pianist Antonio Ciacca has played with such luminaries as Art Farmer, Johnny Griffin, and Lee Konitz. Ciacca is often associated with the New York jazz scene, where he spent four years working with Wynton Marsalis as Director of Programming for Jazz at Lincoln Center. His latest recording, Volare: The Italian American Songbook, was recorded in Vancouver, and featured veteran tenor saxophonist Cory Weeds. Rounding out the quintet: Benny Benack III (trumpet), Ken Lister (bass), and Kelby MacNayr (drums).
