Trombonist Nick La Riviere is one of Victoria's busiest musicians, performing with groups like The Paperboys, Michael Kaeshammer, Locarno, The HiFi, The Riverside (featuring members of 54-40, Grapes of Wrath), the Yiddish Columbia State Orchestra, The Southern Urge, and many more. The list goes on! Recently returned from a successful tour of Germany, Luxembourg, and Italy with Locarno, Nick has been busy performing with his own band at the Victoria International Jazzfest and the Islands Folkfest, as well as performances across BC with other groups.

Although Nick performs many genres of music, the Nick La Riviere Septet focuses mainly on jazz - with a few twists here and there (maybe a little Dr John and Jamiroquai). The group features unique instrumentation with the added string section - and Nick playing a bit of conch shell too!

The band features Richard Moody on violin, Julian Vitek on violin, Alasdair Money on cello, Aidan Miller on piano, Sean Drabitt on bass, Damian Graham on drums, and Nick on trombone, conch shells, and singing a few. The music includes Nick's twisted arrangements of jazz standards, melodic originals, and a few surprises. It’s a fun show for everyone, and reservations are highly recommended.
